Weyrbowl The traditional weyrbowl, used for outdoor weyrling lessons and - in fair weather - some meetings. Usually busy with take-offs and landings. Private weyrs can be seen everywhere along the walls in orderly tiers; the Weyr's vegetable garden is situated on the southwestern edge, in raised soil beds. |

A Much Anticipated Arrival (01.28.3189) by Snow Sept 28, 2011 9:21:35 GMT -5 |
|
Living Caverns Connected to the Weyrbowl by a long tunnel northwest of the garden, the first turn to the left in the large corridor is the Living Caverns. An area for recreation and taking meals, with long tables that seat ten on each long bench, as well as round tables with four chairs each for more private dining. At either side there are big fireplaces where klah is kept hot at all hours except in summertime. |

Craft Rooms Situated parallel to the Living Cavern, on the opposite side of the corridor, there are craft rooms set aside for the resident crafters to work their trades. |

Weyrling Barracks Situated clockwise from the Living Caverns, the weyrling barracks are equipped to hold up to fifty junior weyrlings at a time, though there is arguably space for more if cots were brought in. They connect to the Weyrbowl by means of a huge hallway, between the entrance to the Living Cavern and the entrance to the Hatching Sands. The barracks are doughnut-shaped, with dragon couches around the outer wall, cots for humans on the inner wall, and a bathing room shared by both genders (though the stalls are private) where the doughnut hole would be. |

First Weyrling Lesson by weetia Oct 27, 2011 19:59:39 GMT -5 |
|
Hatching Sands The cavern's entrance is between the Weyrling Barracks and the Candidate Barracks, the northernmost exit from the Weyrbowl. When a clutching dragon lays eggs here, she will almost always stay with them, relying on the clutchfather to bring her food except when she feels the urge to spread her wings. Bleacher-style seats wrap around the exterior, except for a series of five rooms carved for use of the clutcher's rider. Half of the roof is stone-covered; the other half has ample space for winged witnesses to gather around the rim or- if they dare- to swoop in and land. |

[Hatching] Rude Awakenings by Snow Sept 26, 2011 18:12:17 GMT -5 |

Candidate Barracks While the Weyrling Barracks connect to the Weyrbowl on the left of the entrance to the Hatching Sands, the Candidate Barracks connect on the right of it. A long room with cots on each side, each with a chest for personal belongings at the end of the bed. At the deepest end is the bathroom area, with identical features to the one used by weyrlings. |

Sleeping Quarters From apprentice-level shared bunks two to a room, to large multi-room suites for visiting dignitaries, the sleeping quarters house most non-riders in the Weyr. The rank or the individual determines what their sleeping arrangement will be, despite the availability of spare rooms. Bathrooms are paired, one for each gender, at the very end of the corridor as well as halfway down it for easy access. The dormitories are almost directly across the Weyrbowl from the Living Caverns. |

Keeping Secrets (one-shot) 3.05.3189 by Sher Oct 2, 2011 8:47:22 GMT -5 |

Infirmary The Infirmary is constructed almost like the weyrling barracks, in that it was designed to accommodate humans and dragons. It is remarkably well stocked, typically kept in a meticulous state of cleanliness. As with the other dragon-accessible areas of the Weyr, there is no actual door; instead, a heavy leather drape made from multiple skins sown together falls over the archway in unpleasant weather. |

Private Weyrs The walls of the Weyrbowl are lined with private weyrs of various sizes. The queen weyrs are on the lowest tier, then the smallest just above them, then a bit larger, and so forth. At the highest levels are the biggest weyrs, several of which are spacious enough for two dragons. Most private weyrs are very roughly made, hardly more than a cave, and work is still continuing on them. |

The Forests A thickly-wooded forest spreads just south of the Weyr. Parts of it still show scars from a wildfire. Wild game and dangerous predators abound, there. Flying above it, one could see the White Desert to the south and west as a shimmering line on the horizon. |

Hunting Grounds Rather than a traditional feeding pen, these wide-open plains butted up next to the river permit the Weyr's herds to roam freely. A few trees dot the area, used for shade by the beasts and their watchers alike. |

Riverside All along this part of the river, the banks are so gently sloped and the breadth of the channel so wide that nearly anyone can swim in the slow-moving water. Beware the fish that nibble at toes. Jump to:

Open Marketplace Up the channel of the river some twenty miles or so, a major tributary joins up with the main flow. On the tip of land between the main river and the tributary, isolated from the rest of the land mass by a mountain range, there is a marketplace set up. Individual stalls vary; official ones are marked. All transactions except those with the Shifty Trader will be conducted OOC to preserve the timeline. |

The Southern Continent Almost fully explored, in our canon the Southern Continent has been settled from end to end, though the population is still extremely sparse. Roads don't exist, but there are marked trails from one location to another. The Lord Holders of the region continue to have trouble managing their lands in spite of weyrhold assistance. |
