Tunnelsnakes could be vicious beasts. This one had yet to lay her eggs and was more cautious than others of her kind. About two feet long and slightly venomous, she crouched in a dim corner, partially hidden, poised in case these intruders didn't quickly leave on their own. This was *her* place.

Eavan was still coughing from the dust in the air and her eyes were still watering some. ”Alright, let’s call a truce for now. Don’t think I’m going to let you off the hook forever though.” She said teasingly as she poked Julim’s arm. It was nice to have a fellow candidate that knew when to be responsible and could also have fun. She told herself again that he was weyrbred, so that probably made a bit of a difference.
”Hm, yes, that’s a good idea. Might as well get it all in one go if we can. Hold on a moment. I want to grab a couple of covers for the sitting area. On especially cold nights it’ll be nice to cover our legs while we read.” She said as she headed over towards the corner to where the covers were piled neatly on a shelf.
”Hissing? I don’t hear any hiss….” She started replying, but then out of the corner of her eye she saw the tunnelsnake poised in the corner not far from where she was. ”Julim,” Eavan began in a soft whisper, not moving a muscle. ”there is a tunnelsnake right over there. What should I do?” She didn’t run or make any sudden movements, scared that the snake would lunge an attack at her. Her voice also didn’t portray the slight terror she was feeling at seeing the rather large creature, though, she honestly wanted to scream like a little girl at the moment.

The 2 tapestries were clear and so were some of the pillows. It was time to retreat and come back with help. Julim grabbed the tapestries and started retreating, keeping his eyes on the tunnel snake.
He really wanted to get the stuff to the barracks today. "Can you throw some pillows on this? Stay way clear though. If it starts to move toward us we just run.
It looked like the snake just wanted them out of here. That was fine with Julim. He wanted to get out of here intact.

Eavan didn't move her eyes off of the snake as she eased her way back towards Julim. She didn't neglect the covers she had went for though, and came away from the corner with three thickly woven blankets. They were fairly well worn and faded in some spots, but they would do the trick for what they needed them.
Eavan grabbed a few more pillows and then calmly, backing up the whole time, left the room with Julim. "Whew, that was...fun." She said as she closed the door. "I'm going to inform my mother that there's a snake in there and see if she can't get a few people to go take care of it." They really needed to get more traps to kill the tunnelsnakes with. She didn't want people to get hurt by one of those things.
Ekletta assured Eavan that she'd tell the headwoman and they'd get the snake taken care of. With that done, all that was left was the task of actually decorating their sitting area. "Well, Julim. Ready to decorate?" Eavan asked him with a smile.
