Kogran was pretty excited to hear about the firelizard eggs. Even better it was like a scavenger hunt! Not that he ever got to participate in one. Searching would be fun and it'd be cool to have a firelizard. Maybe even a gold or a bronze or something cool like that! Of course, the issue was knowing where to look. He wandered off and into a couple different places, but it seemed like people were already searching in all those place. Maybe the egg would be somewhere... homey? Like a room? He headed to the candidate barracks but turned around. If there was one there, someone else probably had already noticed it.
What about the weyrling barracks? He wandered in and glanced around. It was a bit chilly and dirty. Not that he noticed the mess, just the chill. Didn't firelizards prefer warmth? Or, like... need it? There had to be some warm place here. It was massive, though. Probably a corner? Far from the entrance, probably.
Kogran walked deeper into the room and toward a fireplace. There was no fire, but there was some ash. He poked a finger into the ash, just in case there was something inside it.

((Hahah, your luck must be in. Rolled a nineteen!))
Somehow, though the ashes are cold, the stone of the hearth is warm, possibly from the same heat source that warmed the Hatching Cavern. The poking finger manages to prod a piece of charred wood that escaped burning. As the end of the chunk is dislodged, an eye-catching flash of color is exposed from where it had been covered in the lee of the wood.
((PM incoming!))

((Wow! I'm never that lucky! I'm amazed!))
Kogran jerked his hand back, started at the color he uncovered. All he could see was the pale green among the ashes. What!? Was it really...? He carefully reached back to it, and paused again. They were fragile, weren't they? He had to be really, really careful.
Very slowly, Kogran brushed ash off the egg, revealing a smallish blue triangle. He jerked his hand back again and looked at the eggs again. No... that was supposed to be there. He hadn't done anything wrong.
It took a few minutes, but Kogran finally uncovered the egg. There were more little triangles in such a lovely light blue. It made him think of winter inside of spring. It was also an odd shape: long and ovalish. Also very soft. How could he keep it warm and transport it without hurting it? Kogran glanced around. There wasn't much... just furs. He took one from a cot, laid it on the floor, and carefully, slowly picked up the egg and set it in the fur. He'd have to think of something better when he got to the barracks.
