The dynamics of the group were so intriguing to Ophelia. She could tell who the leaders were, who the followers were, who the innocent bystanders were. And in her mind the bystanders, the ones who could not be swayed either way to lead or follow, were by far had the most power in the situation. Even though she would never admit that aloud to anyone who asked. Thus, when Prinner spoke up, Ophelia merely glanced over at him with an almost indifferent shrug. "Then we're doing her a favor," she added, her tone still bathed in that false sweetness, "by exposing her to it among friends. At least, I hope we can all be mature adults here." If Ophelia stressed the word adult, picking up on Prinner's youthful looks, she gave no outward claim to it. A wan, amused look did flash through her eyes though, and she couldn't help but smile thinly at the boy. He was fun to verbally joust with. Then Eavan finished nicely with her comment, which only caused Ophelia's amusement to grow.
Then Eavan captured her attention once more, and she glanced over at the other girl inquisitively. However, it seemed everyone was keen on leaving poor Julim alone, so she let he comment die on her tongue. The atmosphere was somehow peaceful, and she didn't at the moment feel like disturbing that. In fact, Patala's comment steered her in that direction. The fact that she turned her face away, however, did not go unnoticed by the astute young woman.
"You're right," she murmured in response, casting a sidelong glance at Eavan. An odd thought was starting to form in the back of her mind, until abruptly Ophelia's mind went a completely different way. "I don't think Patala is as innocent as we all think she is." The comment was said nonchalantly, but mostly she wanted to see how the other girl reacted, for she wasn't quite sure of her suspicion yet. When talk turned to firelizards, Ophelia shrugged. That was not her area of expertise.
