It was interesting to notice that out of the eggs remaining, Julim's seemed to be just a little bigger than the others. It could have been an optical illusion; the half that was obnoxious pink almost leaped into the opposite color, the streaks were so bright, and the unobtrusive (by comparison) brown reaching into the pink area from the other half could have been a half dozen arms reaching for a hug across the ridge circling the shell. A strange-looking egg, to say the least, and faster to fall apart than the others had been. The vertical ridge was apparently a line of weakness, because that's where the first hairline fractures appeared. It was an almost silent affair, until bits of shell started falling away into Julim's lap, then tiny growls in two voices could be heard by those nearest. A sharp squeal of pain sounded, then a sudden thrust pushed the predominantly pink half of the shell away from the predominantly brown half- along with a blue firelizard, even smaller than the delicate little green. It whimpered in pain and curled its neck around to lick a bright spot of ichor. A similarly tiny blue was on his back now in the other half of shell, hind legs still outstretched from where he'd shoved his twin away. He was struggling to get to his feet, wedged as his wings were in the shell. The yellow of alarm whirled through his eyes; the mostly-bright colored baby was definitely stuck. The darker twin let out a growl and pounced on his brother, mock-snapping at the clumsy one's neck and unprotected underbelly. The slight weight of both hatchlings was too much for the shell, and it finished cracking, releasing the light fellow. Now that he was free, he started to squabble back with his twin, chittering unhappily and buffeting at him with a gooey wing. If Julim wanted to claim these two, separating them would be a good place to start! The "Presidential" Blue to JulimStarting personality: Nosy, bossy, imaginative, reliable. The "Rubber Ball" Blue to Julim Clumsy, inattentive, resilient, upbeat.

Laps seemed to be a popular place to hatch eggs from. Prinner's Tiny Egg seemed to wait until the blues had made their grand entrance to start moving much. For a little while as the twins fought, the movement was promising; then it became a source of worry as no cracks developed on the boxy thing. Finally, the white-banded gray egg twitched so fiercely that it actually bounced off the security of Prinner's lap, rolled down his leg, and dropped from his footwear to the floor. The impact was enough to crack the bottom. Another long moment passed, in which it was unclear whether any harm had come to the baby inside. Then the top part of the egg lifted away from the broken bits; four palely iridescent white legs and most of a matching tail poked from under it. Unable to see, and probably a bit dizzy, the little one stumbled over its own feet. The curve of the eggshell bumped against Prinner's foot. Alarmed squealing sounded from inside it, and the poor little thing tried to turn its prison and go another way. Like a white dragon, it looked like the white firelizard needed a little help coming out of the shell. Its struggles were becoming more feeble. One would hope the short guy knew what should come next... The "Art of Love" White to PrinnerStarting personality: Shy, affectionate, quick-witted, nervous.

There was no time for anything but moving fast here. Julim put one hand between the two little blues, the other moving in with some meat. "Hey guys, relax" he crooned, trying to project welcome and love at the squabbling twins. "Lots of food here and lots of room for the two of you. No more crowding, no need to fight. Eat some food little ones" The words were unimportant. Having a gentle welcoming tone and being happy to see them was. Right? He really hoped so.
Weren't they a good looking pair though? Smaller then the little green and every bit as perfect. He bet they'd be fast and agile little guys. For now, getting them facing away from each other and eating was the most important. No claw marks on little hides if he could help it.
He could feel them in his head, he was sure of it. Hungry and ready to fly. "Easy boys, stay with me.food, then a warm bath then some oil-you'll be the pretties blue lizards in the Weyr." He did feel them! They were listening and calming down. This was just so incredible! Twin firelizards almost never happened and both so nicely formed!
Julim didn't know it but he was smiling. A huge ear-to-ear show-off-every-tooth-grin. The little blues didn't have room for much meat, the trick was to keep both hands moving, one per flitt. He was going to have a lovely busy time with his new friends.

One would hope the short guy knew what should come next... The "Art of Love" White to PrinnerStarting personality: Shy, affectionate, quick-witted, nervous. "Oh no! Prinner scooped up the little egg, gently helping to free the white hatchling. "I've got you little one" A white flitt? How amazing was that? Prinner was thrilled. Hands well used to dealing with animals gently helped the little white out of his shell and fed him a small bit of meat. "There, there you go". His voice was melodic with its gentle tone, a tone quite different then his usual rather aggressive and loud voice. The egg shell was thicker then the other shells seemed to have been. Poor little fellow, no wonder he had trouble. He would have been better off on a table, Prinner would be sure to pass that on to other people with eggs. Put them on a table so they won't roll off! . Thankfully, there was no injury he could see. The little one was a little scared though. "Good thing I cut up the pieces, huh? Makes it easier for you." He could swear the hatchling was feeling uncertain. Prinner did his best to project just how awesome the little one was and how happy Prinner was. This was the best day ever. Who else had a white flitt? He was going to be amazing looking when he was clean.

((OOC: A bit more hurried post, I have to be up at 6am - which is about two and a half hours away - but I want to get this wrapped up. ^_^)) Eavan's mahogany-spotted white egg had furtively been splitting into cracks since the twin blues' arrival. The flakes of shell were so small, they were hard to see, but they dropped steadily all around. When a suitably large hole with almost smooth sides was made, the hatchling simply climbed gracefully free of it. It could have been mistaken for a really large green, if one discounted the bright bronze blaze curled up across his muzzle, or the matching front toes. His body seemed to otherwise be made of metallic tarnish beneath the coating of egg stuff. For a moment the delicate bronze baby was content to crouch and peer around unblinking. But he squeaked with fright upon seeing Eavan's face, and spun to give his best shot at crawling back into the egg, just couldn't...quite...manage... His hindquarters wriggled as he tried to fit himself through the hole, but was almost hyperventilating from the excess of his fright. The "Glass Rogue" Bronze to EavanStarting personality: Fragile, coward, stealthy, elegant.((Congrats, all!))

It seemed like the eggs started hatching quicker after Ophelia’s had hatched out a brown. J’lin didn’t even have time to reply to her when Julim’s egg started cracking. From one half of the egg came a beautiful little blue and if that wasn’t enough, Eavan saw that Julim had two blues! That was strange indeed. Eavan couldn’t recall there ever being two healthy flits coming from the same egg. She couldn’t really say she envied Julim, he seemed to have his hands full with those two.
Then from Prinner’s egg came a white flit! Eavan’s eyes went wide at seeing the bright colored hide. A white indeed, that was certainly odd. Before Eavan could ponder on the oddly colored baby longer, she finally realized that her own egg had been silently hatching. There were tiny pieces of egg shell all around it. Instead of a shattering of shell though, a small smooth hole popped out and from it climbed a bronze. At least she thought it was bronze…yep upon seeing the bright mark on his head she knew it was a bronze.
He was such a perfect tarnished baby. He seemed to just be looking around, but then something scared him. Eavan was amazed at the feelings she was getting from him, fear, hungry, but mainly fear. ”It’s alright, lovey. No one’s going to hurt you, but you might hurt yourself trying to get back in that egg.” Eavan said in a soothingly calm voice as she gently pulled him back out of the egg shell. Tenderly she placed him in the crook of her arm and he immediately buried his head.
”Shhh…there there. You’re safe. I promise. You just stay right there and I’ll feed you that way.” She said as she got a piece of meat and offered it to him from underneath her arm. That way he could keep himself hidden if he wanted. The bronze was still scared but the smell of the food was too much for his hungry belly. With a tiny trill he took the piece of meat and started eating. Some of the utter terror Eavan had been getting from him started to abate. ”See? You’re alright. Who’s my beautiful bronze boy?”

J'lin sighed in relief as his little green pet ate her fill, and tucked herself in the crook of his arm. He hadn't had to hand feed Portenth in turns, he'd almost forgotten how desperate a hungry hatchling could be. After she woke up, he would take another look at that scratch.
Eavan's comment about the bronze's voice pleased his mindmate immensely, and J'lin shook his head, amused. She had figured out Portenth's weakness pretty easily. "I'll tell him," he said wryly. Just then, he saw the other young girl's egg hatch out of the corner of his eye. He didn't really know anything about her, but she did a good job of coaxing her brown to her, and she seemed quite in control of herself.
Soon after that, he was stunned to see an egg hatch twins! Theoretically, he knew it should be possible, but the twin blues were still quite a surprise. And the white that came next amazed him even more. Sulee had managed a very unusual clutch. Looking at the three of them, he almost missed Eavan's little bronze hatch. The little rascal actually tried to go back into the shell! Of course, J'lin had to admit that there had been more than one day when he wanted to crawl right back into bed, but this was a bit much. She comforted the frightened hatchling, though, and J'lin got to hear Portenth crowing in his mind. She has a bronze of her own, now, the dragon cheered.

Primbel had watched out of the corner of his eye, smiling knowingly between mouthfuls of medium-rare meat, but forgot to chew when he saw the twin blues hatch from a single egg and the tiny white from another. He'd never seen a white firelizard; he'd never even heard of them. And twins? Usually one killed the other in the egg, just natural selection at play, nothing to get worked up about. Smiling more widely, he looked for his gold, sure that she wouldn't be far away.
Instead, he saw empty air and empty ledges. Where could she possibly have slipped off to? The delight the rough old stonesmith felt for the clutch was rapidly slipping away with worry, but he was positive she was all right. He would've felt it if something had... happened. He gave a little wave to the lucky young people, still keeping his distance. They looked busy enough without his interference.

It was really hard for Kogran to keep feeding his little gold and watch the other eggs as they hatched. He didn't even have a good chance to respond to Ophelia's statement about hiding the eggs, what with the feeding, the talking, and then the hatching. By the time the twin blues had hatched, the gold had eaten enough, and Kogran carefully stroked her back as she climbed onto the table to watch with him.
She chirped excitedly for the twins and fearfully for the egg that fell to the floor, going so far as to take a couple steps forward and stand on her back legs to try to peer over the table. Kogran held out an arm and once she saw the white reappear, she crawled up Kogran's arm and he rubbed her headknobs. Finally, she climbed down and chiped greetings to Eavan's bronze. Kogran smiled, but turned to Ophelia, remembering that she had said something to him.
"I hope so! But the scavenger hunt was kinda fun, wasn't it? I guess it'd be more fun for kids, though, and kids probably shouldn't have these guys." He said, looking away from Ophelia to his gold, who was looking at her brothers and sister. She chirped playfully at the green and flapped her wings, taking off into the air.
