((Eggs won't be hatching for a while, but their "distribution" will begin today. Two eggs from the clutch are prize winnings, but the others will be up for grabs.))
Primbel rolled out of bed to the sound of whimpering. He was on his feet before his eyes had even opened fully. As he became coherent, he stumbled over his boots on the way to turn the glow in his room. Faded light washed over the room, and he yawned as he looked for Sulee. The sound wasn't unfamiliar to him, and it had been long enough since her mating flight that he'd been expecting to catch her clutching for a week. Most irregular.
The firelizard poked her head out of his open clothes chest, blinking in the light and continuing to make distressed sounds. "Lovey?" the stonesmith crooned to her, an unusually gentle tone- for him. The gold clambered out of the chest, careful not to scrape her egg-heavy abdomen across its lip, and chirped from the floor. She looked completely miserable. "Shhhh," Primbel soothed, stepping toward her and squatting to stroke her head affectionately. "You'll be all right, won't you?"
Sulee let loose a string of conversational chittering, then lifted herself laboriously into the air with a few strong wing strokes. Oh no, her human thought, in dawning horror. She was going to-
Wink between. Wonderful. Now he'd have to arrange some folks to help him hunt for the eggs. Not that he had anything against firelizards hatching wild, but he rather enjoyed seeing Sulee's get around the Weyr, perched on shoulders or heads with equal aplomb. He wouldn't keep any for himself, oh no. Having one was almost more than he could handle!
Hastily, the man threw on the clothes he'd worn yesterday and hurried out the door. The Living Caverns were always a good place to recruit egg hunters, and that's where he'd be heading.
